Good Ol' Joe
Stumptown Organic Coffee
People covet it. People need it. People would go across town to get it. We're talking about Stumptown coffee. And, after ruling the Pacific Northwest for 10 years, it's finally taking over New York – trendy cafés are clamoring to serve it and a Stumptown café is slated to open in Manhattan this summer. While the story is reminiscent of a Seattle company that rhymes with “tar pucks,” Stumptown coffee is actually really good. The fair-trade beans are hand-picked and processed in Latin America, Africa, and Indonesia before they're sent to Portland for roasting in antique cast-iron German Probat machines. And, the entire process is meticulously monitored for quality. The result: the perfect cup of joe. There are even detailed at-home brewing instructions posted online. Just to make sure you don't ruin their coffee. Um, no pressure.
