FSD Service Trips
The Foundation for Sustainable Development takes a travel trend to the next level by taking the "tourist" out of voluntourism. At the SF-based "boutique Peace Corps," businesspeople lend their talents to developing countries for periods of a week or more. Luxurious? Not so much. But whether bringing computer technology to a Nicaraguan school or training Argentine journalists in new media, the trips allow even the perennially overscheduled BlackBerry-obsessed among us to engage with real world, grassroots solutions. Which beats a vacation where all you got was a lousy T-shirt.
