What was your green turning point?
In 1977, I saw an interview on TV with the first executive director of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Maurice Strong … The international scope of Maurice's vision to resolve the global environmental imperative was a siren song for me. I knew I had to be part of the solution.
What has been your biggest lifestyle change?
I do not own a gasoline-powered car.
What are your favorite eco items in your closet?
Pashmina shawls from Nepal.
What do you hope to pass down to your children?
To create a future that is informed by creativity, openness, and an explicit understanding of the connectedness of all life on Earth. We are literally one world.
If you had five minutes in the Oval Office, what would you say?
Short- and long-term business planning is compatible and consistent with environmental protection. It is an illusion that to be green is an economic burden. Corporations that are resource efficient will be more competitive in 21st century global markets.

What keeps you up at night?
Non-linear environmental change. What we used to think would take centuries to happen is now transpiring over decades. It is occurring everywhere around us. Get ready for a new world.
What smart choices have you made this week?
Drove an electric car to work, ate low on the food chain, participated in city-wide recycling programs.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
My future 1996 993 Porsche Convertible.
