Since it started three short years ago, Graham Hill's Treehugger.com has become a daily must-read, and not just for the eco set: With its worldwide community of bloggers, it sniffs out innovations in design, culture, and technology. Here, Hill gives us an inside peek at his life beyond the blogosphere.

What was your green turning point?
My parents were back to the land hippies so it was ingrained at an early age. Lights off, composting, gardening, minimal use of water, second-hand clothes, etc., etc..

What has been your biggest lifestyle change?
I'm trying to bring some new ideas to the larger business world, like that you don't need to get everybody in the room to have a meeting. With Treehugger, I built a virtual office with 50 people and it really works – there's Skype, there's iChat, there are Google docs and other really great tools out there. You can travel a lot less for business.

What's your little green secret?
If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down. It takes a little getting used to, but saves you thousands of gallons of water a year. And it's good to do things that get you judged by other people.

What's your favorite eco item in your closet?
My folding Strida bike (which literally hangs in my closet). It's a great way to get around the city on zero emissions. And it even looks sorta cool, in a geek-chic sorta way.

If you had five minutes in the Oval Office, what would you say?
I probably wouldn't say it but I'd want to say, "How about building a real legacy by doing what, in your heart of hearts, you know is right?" I just can't belive that down deep these characters don't know the damage they're causing.

What's your favorite eco element of your home?
My Staach table, benches and stools are pretty great! And my Barcelona chair and Eames recliner will last decades, are comfortable, and look awesome.

"If it's yellow, let it mellow."

"I believe in teaching a person how to fish."

Which nonprofits get your stamp of approval?
I like what Kiva is doing. It's not specifically green, but it profiles entrepreneurs all over the world who are looking to start or grow their business, and you can lend money to these people to pull themselves out of poverty ... I believe in teaching a person how to fish. Or helping them invest in a fishing pole, as they probably know how to fish better than I do.

What's your not-so-green guilty pleasure?
Flying. I offset but it's still not right.

If you could snap your fingers and create a green product that doesn't exist yet, what would it be?
I'd like really convenient product service systems where I could easily and inexpensively rent anything that I need from time to time. There are too many things that we have to buy that we rarely use ... Think camping equipment or equipment for a new sport or a huge sangria bowl.

What smart choices have you made this week?
On a "staycation" out in Montauk. Took bus out. Riding bikes everywhere. No AC. And really enjoying it.

Who is your green superhero?
The average person who acts in a green manner, simply because they feel it's the right thing to do.
